hey yo ppl! wads up? lols. well.. hope u are having a gd life at sec sch now. ok, same as b4, time for news... abit more today, prolly.
1st. 987FM listeners out there! these piece of news a little old la, its from 23 jan.. paiseh. but just read it if u dunno.

First, there was the news of actor Adrian Pang departing from our local googlebox to return to the theatre full time. Now radio jockey Daniel Ong is taking an "indefinite break" from the airwaves.
The main impetus: To be a "full-time" dad (he and wife Jaime Teo are expecting their first child, a girl, in April).
The 34-year-old confirmed that he will be leaving 987FM, the station where he has been working for the last decade in his 15 year-long radio career. He intends to do freelance hosting and voiceover work, which he says will allow him the "opportunity to be a full-time dad."
It's a statement not to be taken lightly. Both he and Jaime were raised single-handedly by their mothers. "My dad left when I was a few months old. I promised myself I'd never ever do that. I want to be there for my daughter from day one, changing diapers and all."
Though Jaime, an actress and former Miss Singapore Universe, is also planning to take a break from work, this husband isn't too worried about bringing home the bacon. "I often ask myself what are my priorities, and family is my priority right now. I think it's something I'm very blessed to be able to do. I've saved enough to not have to worry about not being able to provide. We also go to lesser restaurants, haha!"
He explained that she was supportive of his decision. "All Jaime wanted was for me to be happy. She said "As long as you're happy, go ahead and do it." She's the best person in the world. She went through thick and thin with me. [Since] we both came from single families, we both realize how important for both of us there for the baby."
With their baby girl, whom they're naming Renee (French for 'born again') will be the centre of attention, Dan feels that his move from 987 is timely, partly because his interests and subjects of conversations are naturally now geared towards parenting and lifestyle, "something that the young audience [of 987] may not enjoy as much."
He admitted that he has his fingers crossed for a position in Class 95, a station targeted for working professionals, but "there's no space, but the big bosses know I'm holding out for it."
But that's if he ever returns to radio. "I may never come back to radio. The break is indefinite, 'cos I have a lot of dreams. I wanna do F&B, I also wanna open up a renovating firm. If I do something and it's a success, I'll put all my passion into it."
Besides being a known radio personality, Daniel isn't shy about his home renovation instincts. As he prepares to leave 987, his family is also preparing to move to their new two-storey terrace home in MacPherson, which he designed "to be purely built around the baby" and is about 70 per cent completed. "I'm Phua Chu Dan, if you didn't know."
Despite the gravity of the subject, the DJ was good-natured and polite throughout the interview. Even when we probed about the rumours that he chose to quit radio because he was unhappy with the station's management.
"I just spoke to the managers just now. I'm not unhappy. They're not unhappy. They know the rumours are there and that people will say whatever they want to say. We're both assured as to where we both stand. There are no negative feelings or bad blood. [During my time], they've given me opportunities to do shows and TV like Singapore Idol and Mr. Kiasu. I'm leaving for purely for a personal decision."
He is currently serving his notice but details for his last day of service is not yet confirmed. "I know where they're coming from since I was a manager (987's Programme Director) for 15 months, and I empathise. It's a tough thing to do."
He added that with former DJ Georgina Chang as the senior creative director of 987 and Lush 99.5FM stations (since last December), "it's more 'fang xing' (Chinese for 'peace of mind') as someone capable is taking over my baby (the station)."
Indeed, his impending departure from the local radio scene is no indication of his being weary of the job, having been in the industry for 15 years after getting his first gig at 19 years of age.
The passion, he adamantly announces, is still roaring, which he attributes to his loyal listeners. "I just wanna thank all the listeners. Over the years, I've received lots of emails and I just wanna thank them for letting me sneak into their lives. That is key, without people listening in, I wouldn't have the passion for radio. You ask yourself what is your purpose on earth: to make people laugh, to entertain. We've made marriages, proposals, just a million things on air. All this is super cool to be part of people's lives."
Expectedly, his tone turns solemnly as he continues. "I will miss radio. It's immediate, evolving. I've been [in 987] for 10 years. It's like my second family. They may not feel the same towards me. I think I've been the most intense person on radio, but some may think I'm crazy, insane, overdoing it or overbearing sometimes. But just for the record, it's all part of the passion."
(btw, pic from yahoo, i dun own th pic. ty for th coporation.)

2nd. Giant squid invasion? lols.

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – Giant squid weighing up to 60 pounds have invaded the California waters off Newport Beach and are being caught by sport fishermen by the hundreds.
The squid showed up last week and anglers started booking twilight fishing trips over the weekend to catch them.
The animals weigh between 20 and 40 pounds, but a few fishermen have reeled in 60-pound creatures.
The Humboldt squid is also called the jumbo squid or jumbo flying squid and squirts ink to protect itself.
They can grow up to 100 pounds and 6 feet long and follow food sources. The squid have also recently been spotted off San Diego, Oregon and Washington.
Robert Woodbury with Newport Landing Sportfishing says anglers in Orange County have caught about 400 of the big squid since Friday night.

3rd. richest man in SG dies.

SINGAPORE: Singapore billionaire property tycoon and Far East Organization chairman Ng Teng Fong has died.
Family friends confirmed that the 82—year—old tycoon died on Tuesday morning.
Far East Organization said in a statement that Mr Ng suffered a stroke on January 23. He was taken to hospital where he underwent an operation.
Mr Ng was ranked Singapore’s richest man by Forbes magazine last year. His family’s net worth was estimated at US$8 billion in 2009.
He was said to have made his fortune on the property market, and owned at least a quarter of Singapore’s housing market.
Far East Organization developed more than 700 hotels, malls and condos in Singapore and Hong Kong, and owns Singapore’s Fullerton Hotel.
The family also owns Hong Kong’s Sino Group and is also one of Hong Kong’s largest real estate developers.
Mr Ng was known for his frugal lifestyle, and till his death, still lived in his home of 30 years.
The wake will be held from Tuesday evening at Mr Ng’s mansion at No.2, Watten Estate, and a nightly service will be held at 8pm. The funeral will be held on Saturday.
Mr Ng has six children. The younger son Philip runs the Singapore business, while the older son Robert is in charge of the Hong Kong one.
In a statement, the Ng family expressed its gratitude to friends and business associates for their condolences and concern.

4th. maid abused for eating biscuits.

SINGAPORE: A 39—year—old woman is facing charges for allegedly abusing her maid.
Annie Tan, an assistant vice—president of sales with MediaCorp, is said to have committed the alleged offence at her home in Bishan on 18 September 2008.
She has been accused of grabbing Filipina Vilma Lambino Manuel, 37, by her head and banging it three times against a wall. Tan is also accused of slapping Ms Manuel on the face, kicking her left leg and grabbing her right arm.
The accused has denied the charges.
The court heard that what sparked the incident was Ms Manuel telling Tan she had eaten some biscuits from a can. The maid is now working elsewhere.
If convicted, Tan could be jailed for up to three years and fined a maximum of S$7,500 for each charge.
